Ear issues have been a common occurrence with Miss Jada ever since she was little. The culprit for her is allergies and thankfully we have them mostly under control, but daily care is needed. At night, I drown her ear canals with alcohol to prevent any more infections, but after baths, I like to use something a little more gentle. Let's look at a great companion to our previous review of BVH Pet Care Premium Shampoo and Conditioner by looking at BVH Pet Care Premium Dog Ear Cleaner!
Like we mentioned before, BVH Pet Care was started by dog lovers and System Engineers Robert and Vicki Hengen in 2014. These two started their company after getting Rottweilers and learning about all these myths that surround pet care (the difference between fur and hair for instance: there isn’t one except for visually). After gathering much information they decided to improve how we bathe our dogs using science, not myths, and with the aid of FDA approved laboratories and manufacturers. BVH Pet Care has produced two products, the Premium Dog Shampoo and Conditioner and the Premium Dog Ear Cleanser. So after the bath a few weeks ago, let's get our ears cleaned!
So the ingredients in this natural ear cleaner are: Purified Water based formula, coconut extracts, palm extracts, citrus extracts, and vegetable-based ingredients to condition and moisturize the skin. I love that it is made in the U.S.A. and is biodegradable- even the bottle!
It was really easy to clean Jada's ears! Granted, she is used to her ears being messed with, but with some training and treats your dog can be butter in your hands. First, you should wash your hands well and shake the ear cleaner bottle. Then, either lift up your dog's ear flap or fold it back so you can see their ear canal. Gently squeeze the bottle to put a couple of drops in your dog's ear (I like to use a bit more, personally).
Right after you squeeze the cleaner into the ear, gently massage the base of the ear so it gets all up in there and loosen the icky ear stuff. Let go and let your dog shake it off!
To clean your dog's ear flap, grab a cotton ball and squirt some BVH Ear Cleaner onto it then rub it all down to get the ear wax and other debris. Don't try to clean too deep into the ear, clean just what you can see and don't use cotton swabs for the canal since it could cause injury to your pup.
At a minimum, your pup's ears need to be cleaned once a month and after they have baths or go into the water. Also, if you have a dog susceptible to ear infections (basset hounds, golden retrievers, poodles, schnauzers, etc.) then you need to clean them more often. With BVH Pet Care Premium Ear Cleaner you can be sure their ears are clean with a natural product!
