Monitoring your dog's calorie intake is important, but have you thought about where those calories are coming from? Calories can derive from protein, fat, and carbohydrates but one of these should provide the majority: protein! WeRuVA® makes sure that your dog's calorie intake is balanced with Caloric Harmony and Caloric Melody!
WeRuVa has been providing premium pet nutrition for 10 years as a family-owned pet food manufacturer. They started out by making cat food (they are even named after their three rescue cats: WEbster, RUdi and VAnessa) but started making dog food as they added a rescue pup named Baron to their family. They have super-premium canned foods, treats, cat litter, and now some of the best dry dog kibble!
"Pour me a bowl of this delicious food now, mama" |
Both WeRuVa's Caloric Harmony and Caloric Melody dry dog food are a low carb kibble where the majority of the calories come from protein. The difference between the two formulas is that Harmony has 80% animal-based protein while Melody has 70% animal-based protein. Melody has comparable nutrition with a lower cost for you. We decided to focus on the Caloric Harmony variation and were given a bag of the Venison & Salmon Meal Dinner with Pumpkin to try out.
You know me, the first thing I look at for dog food is the ingredients. They aren't bad at all and I like that they are pretty limited. Some items to note: pumpkin which helps with digestion (lots of good fiber), seaweed has a natural prebiotic effect, and the salmon oil, linoleic acid, and B vitamins help to keep your pup's coat and skin healthy. And guess what? None of these ingredients come from China and are responsibly sourced!
Bailey was pretty eager to try the food out and I was surprised to see square kibble. I don't know about you, but I like the square shape, haha! This kibble is also made in a BRC approved facility which holds the highest standards for quality control and food safety.
As you can see, Bailey wasted no time diggin' in! Venison, salmon, and pumpkin together? YUM! Gotta love that most of the calories come from protein- meat lovers rejoice! WeRuVa's Caloric Harmony and Melody come in many different flavor varieties that include cage-free chicken, grass fed lamb & venison, and humanely sourced salmon.
We had a special guest, a.k.a. an Honorary Chesnut Mutt, named Dexter join us to test out WeRuVa's Caloric Harmony and he really enjoyed it! He has been having tummy issues lately and I know that the pumpkin will help aid in healthy digestion for mister Dexie here.
In all the formulas for both Harmony & Melody, there are no potatoes, wheat, corn, soy, or gluten. There is also low fat & ash content and the food is fit for all life stages. The kibble also has a low glycemic load which helps maintain steady energy levels. Sounds good to me!

Great review! We love WeRuVa's quality!
ReplyDeleteI agree - what a great review! I don't have any dogs, but my aunt does and she has told me she's been looking for a better dog food so I might have to tell her to check out WeRuVa.
ReplyDeleteWeruva makes great foods! It looks like this one is another winner. My cats enjoy Weruva's wet cat foods. I love the photo of Bailey digging in. It is easy to see that Bailey really loves this food! :)
