Review: Wellness® TruFood® Tasty Pairings Dog Food

Back in October of 2015, we introduced you to Wellness® TruFood® Living Nutrition product line with their dry food and CocoChia Bakes.

This time we are looking into their Tasty Pairings- a wet dog food that pairs 2 types of meat with a fruit or vegetable. These are different than similar products because they contain 70% more raw protein! I know my dogs can appreciate that ;).

So we were given 3 varieties to try out- Pumpkin, Lamb & Duck, Carrots, Salmon & Cod, and Chicken, Carrots & Duck. They also have other pairings such as Chicken, Green Beans, & Chicken Liver, Green Beans, Beef & Lamb Liver, Chicken, Pumpkin & Beef.

Let's start with our first Tasty Pairings...

Wellness TruFood Tasty Pairings with Pumpkin, Lamb & Duck

The food comes in 5 oz cups and all flavors are grain, wheat, soy filler, corn, meat by-product, artificial color, flavor, and preservative free.

The ingredients are overall pretty good. I did find it a bit misleading that chicken was higher on the list compared to the pumpkin, lamb, and duck. Plus, "natural flavor" is always a curious ingredient to me. Pumpkin is a great addition thought because it adds lots of great fiber to your dog's diet!

After you open it up, just flip it upside down on a plate or in your pet's bowl to get it looking like the packaging. Gotta give Wellness props because the presentation isn't bad at all (I know dogs could honestly care less, haha)

Dibble tried this first one out and loved it so much he licked the plate clean afterwards!

Wellness TruFood Tasty Pairings with Carrots, Salmon & Cod

For our second Tasty Pairings, we have the carrots, salmon, and cod variety. Mmm..carrots. My girls are addicted to those orange vegetables!

The ingredients are pretty much the same as the previous Tasty Pairings, but the pumpkin is replaced with carrots, and the lamb and duck are replaced with salmon and cod. In regards to the chicken, Wellness states that this is whole-prey, meaning that all edible parts of the animal is used (meat, organs, and some bones).

Dottie got to try this one out and she pretty much vaccumed it up into her mouth. No picky eaters in the house tonight!

Wellness TruFood Tasty Pairings with Chicken, Carrots & Duck

The last Tasty Pairings we will be looking at today is the Chicken, Carrots & Duck variety. Duck is a favorite protein around here and my dogs are glad that they are seeing it more often in pet food.

The ingredients are smiliar to before, but the chicken is in the same spot in the list with duck replacing the other protein sources. 

I do want to mention that according to the directions, you give 3 containers for every 6 lbs of body weight per day. Now, unless you have a dog under 10 lbs, that is a lot-Holy moly! That is 35 cups for a 80 lbs dog like Jake, Thankfully they do give an easy conversion if you want to substitute some Wellness dry food with the Tasty Pairings- for every 1 container you can reduce the dry by 1/4 cup. Or, you can look at the kcal/kg and figure out from there.

"Oh my, it IS duck!"

As you can see from her face, Bailey really enjoyed this food! For a 10 lbs dog she gulped it down pretty fast.

• Wellness Trufood has a line of wet dog food called Tasty Pairings.
• There are 6 Tasty Pairings varieties to choose from each with multiple protein sources paired with a fruit or vegetable.
• It does take 3 containers to feed a 6lbs dog, but you can always mix it up with TruFood dry dog food.
• You can find Tasty Pairings at Amazon, PetSmart, Chewy.com, and other local pet retailers

Overall I think this is a good dog food! Love the veggie/fruit combinations and I believe that these Tasty Pairings would perk up any picky eater's appetite. Especially if your picky eater is a small dog, that way they can indulge without breaking the bank ;)
