Review & Giveaway: Meaty Mugs Dog Treats

Jada looking at a Meaty Mugs Chicken Jerky Dog Treat

The Chesnut Mutts were compensated in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are genuinely mine and we would not share a product that we did not fully believe in. Please do not use any image without permission.

As a pet parent, I am sure you have noticed that jerky treats have been getting a lot of flak over the last few years. It has been hard to find a reputable U.S. based treat brand that makes safe jerky treats, but thankfully they have been popping up in the last year. One brand that we stumbled across is located in New York and brings peace of mind to dog parents everywhere! Introducing...Meaty Mugs!

All Natural Meaty Mugs Dog Treats made with love

Meaty Mugs was started back in November 2014 by Regina Jacobson and her dog-loving family. This is a very new treat company, but has already gained media attention from local magazines, and most recently, the love and adoration from our whole household, haha. The name "Meaty Mugs" comes from the meaty raw diet Regina feeds her pack, and"mugs" comes from their pit bulls' big heads and "mugs". We were sent a bag of chicken jerky treats as well as a sample of a new product coming out soon.

Let's see how the Mutts liked the jerky...

Meaty Mugs Chicken Jerky Dog Treats

All Natural Meaty Mugs Dog Treats Made with Love

Ingredients: Chicken Breast

Can't get any better than a single ingredient dog treat! These jerky strips are human-grade and made with all natural chicken breast. The chickens are farm-raised on a vegetarian diet with no hormones and antibiotic free. There are also no additives, artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives- just delicious chicken! Also, the bag is 100% compostable, minus the tin tie at the top.

These are thin chicken strips that are made by Regina herself! There were varying sizes, but my bag was consistent with big wide pieces.

Don't let that face fool you, she was very attentive!
I think one thing that makes this treat special is the thinness of the jerky. This way your dog can eat a lot of it and not get too fat (Jada is very thankful for this), and it makes an okay training treat when you break it up. Just don't break it up into too small of a piece or it will crumble.

The calm before the storm...

NOM!
All size of dog can enjoy this treat. Just snap it into any size you need to make your pooch happy!

I know all of you are wondering, "so what do these taste like, Abby?" Well, wonder no more because I tried these out myself and I almost didn't share with the dogs! Jada looked at me with her big brown eyes as if to say "why are you eating my treats, mama? I don't eat yours!" Lol, so yeah these taste just like chicken! Surprise, eh? I loved them, so I am actually not surprised by how crazy my pack went for these Meaty Mugs dog treats!

Regina also sent us a sample of some treats coming out soon...

Meaty Mugs Organic Sweet Potatoes

These are like sweet potato chips! Thin, crunchy, and oh so good! These were all gone before I could try some myself, but the dogs really enjoyed these as well! If you have a sweet potato fan I would definitely look into these.

Check out our video showing just how much the girls loved Meaty Mugs!

In a nutshell...
  • Meaty Mugs is a dog treat company based in Hudson Valley, New York that started up in November 2014
  • They have chicken jerky dog treats which are human-grade, all natural, single ingredient, made by the owner herself right here in the U.S.A.
  • Besides chicken jerky, they are also making treats with beef and sweet potatoes
  • A bag of Meaty Mugs Chicken Jerky retails for $17.99 for 6 oz in their online store
  • For the quality and how many pieces you get in a bag I find the price fair
  • Besides online (U.S. Only), you can find Meaty Mugs treats in select stores in New York

We LOVED these treats and this whole company! I always admire small treat companies because they really put their heart and soul into their business. I would recommend these treats to any dog parent (and maybe even cat parents. Shipoopi ate these too!) that is looking for a meaty treat made right here in the U.S.A. Stay on the lookout as Meaty Mugs is working to expand their business to a pet store near you!
